Applesauce Spice Crumb Muffins

I found this recipe on Memory Makin Momma, and could not wait to try it! The flavor and texture surprised me. It is VERY apple(y??) If that's a word, I'm using it here.

Use your own prepared Pumpkin Pie Spice. (3 tsp. Cinnamon, 2 tsp. Ground nutmeg, 2 tsp. Ground cloves. Mix and store in an airtight container.) These make a wonderful breakfast muffin, or dessert. Do your family a favor and make these soon!

Whisk together in small bowl.

1 1/2 C. Flour 1 tsp. B. Powder 1 tsp. B. Soda 1/2 tsp. Salt 1 T. Pumpkin Pie Spice Whisk together in large bowl.

1 C. Unsweetened Applesauce 1/2 C. Brown Sugar 1/2 C. Vegetable Oil 2 eggs Add dry ingredients. Stir by hand. Scoop into paper lined muffin tin.

Crumb Topping: 1 stick unsalted butter (melted) 1 C. Flour 1 tsp. Cinnamon Stir together with a fork. Place crumbled pieces on unbaked muffins.

Place in 425 degree oven for 7 minutes. Turn oven to 350 degrees and bake 12-14 minutes longer. Leave in pan until they cool down some. I added Cinnamon drizzle, totally optional though.

Cinnamon Drizzle

1 C. Powdered sugar

1/2 tsp. Cinnamon

Small amount of milk or cream.

Stir until smooth. Add more milk to thin out to your desired consistency. If you want your glaze white, don’t add the cinnamon.

Yields 12 muffins.
