I’ve gotten many requests for Dan’s Sloppy Joe recipe. He’s made these several times, and they’re always amazing. Seriously. These aren’t your mama’s Sloppy Joe’s!
Dans Sloppy Joe’s
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 white onion, diced
1/2 green pepper, diced
1 tsp. Paprika
1 tsp. Garlic powder
1 tsp. Onion powder
1 tsp. Turmeric
Salt + pepper to taste
1/2 C. Brown sugar
1 can Rotel, drained
3-4 T. Mustard
1/2 C. BBQ sauce
1-2 Adobe peppers (Goya brand in the can)
In a large skillet over medium high heat, add a few tablespoons of olive oil. Add the onion and green pepper. Stir and cook until soft. About 5 to 7 minutes. Add the ground beef and cook through. Add the seasonings and remaining ingredients. Serve immediately, or transfer to a crock pot and set on low until ready to serve. The flavors become more intense if allowed to set a few hours.
(Optional):
Dan adds 2 cups freshly grated cheddar cheese, just before serving. Stir well until melted.
Serve on toasted Brioche Buns with sweet pickles.
